Joyce Simmons

I am rather unique, in that I have “another-self", my twin-sister Jeane. We not only look alike, we sound exactly alike over the phone, have the same taste in clothes, shoes, hobbies and shopping. On occasion, we have arrived at Church wearing the same outfit without prior knowledge what the other one was wearing. My favorite hobbies are quilting, sewing and painting with watercolors. I have been married to Roger for fifty-five years and we have two daughters, Susan and Sharon. Susan married Bob Forster, and God has blessed me with two grandchildren. Lauren is 15 and Brandon is 16. Susan teaches First Grade at Cypress Springs Elementary School. Sharon is married to Neal Green and they are blessed with one Grand-dog "Sheba" and two Grand-cats "Bubba and Pretty Boy". Sharon works for the Department of Health in the WIC office.
There is one area of interest I have that is different from Jeane’s. My passion is math and bookkeeping. I retired from SunTrust after 23 years, working in the computer support/training area. Thus, I feel well-suited for my job as Finance Manager and work meticulously to balance to the "penny". I feel that the Lord laid this responsibility in my lap and pray for His guidance every day.
I have gone to Church all my life and felt I knew the Lord. There wasn’t a time that I did not remember being in church with Grandmother, with Jeane sitting on one side of her and me on the other. I grew up as a Methodist but after marrying Roger, we decided together that we would attend the Baptist church. However, this past year I felt there was something missing. I could not get though an invitation without becoming teary eyed. Dr. Clif would say: "… you may think you are saved but are you sure you are going to Heaven?" One night the Lord spoke to me and I asked forgiveness for my sins. I can tell you this was the most glorious feeling when God washed my soul and flooded my heart with the most incredible JOY! I then requested to follow Jesus’ example of obedience and on May 4, 2008 was baptized. I now have a "new self".
