What is True Love Waits?

Created in April, 1993, and sponsored by LifeWay Christian Resources. True Love Waits is an international campaign that challenges teenagers and college students to remain sexually abstinent until marriage. To date, over a million young people have signed covenant cards stating: "Believing that true love waits, I make a commitment to God, myself, my family, my friends, my future mate, and my future children to be sexually abstinent from this day until the day I enter a biblical marriage relationship."

How will the Youth Leadership Team teach True Love Waits?

Starting Sunday, February 28th and running through Sunday, March 21st, True Love Waits will be taught in the student’s regular Sunday School classroom at North Park Baptist Church. Your student will be taught by the following teachers; Middle School grade girls by Trish Madison (dtmadison@att.net), Middle School boys by Bob Howell (rhowell1@cfl.rr.com), High School girls by Dana Dickerson (teacherdana@bellsouth.net), and High School boys by Dave Madison (dthmadison@cfl.rr.com).

What will be discussed in the lessons?

Material will be as follows: High School students will use The Datable Rules (a guide to the sexes), and the Middle School students will use Living Pure Inside Out. The material is very forthright in nature. True Love Waits is about following God’s plan for purity. He calls us to be pure and holy. Sexual purity includes refraining from all forms of sex outside of marriage – a biblical marriage between a man and a woman.

What can I do to support True Love Waits?

If you have any concerns or questions, please feel free to contact me, a member of the Youth Leadership Team, or a Youth Sunday School Teacher. For more information, the official True Love Waits website is http://www.lifeway.com/tlw and the church website is http://www.northparkbaptist.org.

In His Service,

Pray. Pray for your student and his/her teacher. Pray for the message of sexual purity to be taught clearly and effectively. Talk to your student about sexual purity. Open a dialogue with your student regarding sex. They will talk about sex with someone – make that someone you.
